Tax relief (Form Med 2) and payment plans for veneers
Under Revenue's Health Expenses rules, purely cosmetic composite veneers and composite edge bonding do not qualify for the 20% non-routine dental tax relief on Form Med 2. However, laboratory porcelain veneers and crowns do qualify for 20% Med 2 tax relief, and restorative composite work required after dental trauma or congenital enamel defects can qualify when certified by your dentist.

Calculate your composite veneers smile package
Select how many upper front teeth you want to veneer, whether you prefer single-visit freehand sculpting or digital injection-moulded / lab veneers, and whether to include pre-whitening and a protective nightguard.
Estimated smile package
€1,800 to €3,100
6 teeth (canine to canine) · Direct chairside composite veneers · plus whitening & nightguard (€400–€700)
Guide price of €1,400 to €2,400 for 6 upper front teeth (canine to canine) using direct chairside composite veneers, plus €400 to €700 for pre-treatment home teeth whitening and a custom nightguard. By comparison, the same 6 teeth (canine to canine) in lab-made porcelain veneers would cost €4,500 to €7,200 (€3,600 to €5,760 after 20% Med 2 tax relief).

How clinics stage payments and 0% finance plans
Because a 6-tooth composite veneer smile makeover ({r(CV['direct_6'])} direct or {r(CV['indirect_6'])} digital) is paid privately, most Irish cosmetic clinics offer two ways to spread the cost:
- Staged appointment payments: you pay only for the consultation and home whitening / 3D digital scan at visit one, and pay the balance on the day the veneers are placed 2 to 4 weeks later.
- 0% APR or low-interest monthly dental finance: many practices partner with Irish patient-finance providers or offer in-house staged plans over 6, 12 or 24 months (for example, €1,800 over 12 months is €150/month after deposit).

Questions patients ask
Can I use my PRSI dental check-up and scale & polish before getting composite veneers?
Yes — and your dentist will insist on healthy, plaque-free gums before placing veneers so the gumline does not bleed during bonding. If you pay PRSI, your annual dental examination is free and PRSI pays €50 towards your pre-treatment scale and polish (leaving at most €15 for you to pay).
Does private dental insurance (Vhi, Laya, DeCare) cover composite veneers?
Private dental insurance policies exclude elective cosmetic veneers, though they will cover any pre-treatment check-ups, X-rays, hygiene visits and necessary fillings you need before cosmetic work starts.
